​Originally from the USA, Dr Valarie Jerome has lived in Newbury for many years and has worked locally in the area at various opticians. Recently, Dr Jerome was recognised in the Top 100 UK Female Entrepreneurs of 2021 by f:Entrepreneur.

In 2020, Valarie Jerome Optometrists was listed in the UK Small Business Top 100 of 2020 by Small Business Saturday UK. Dr Jerome primary interests are contact lens, dry eye disease, blepharitis and ocular allergies.

She is particularly interested in issues affecting women eye health. Valarie has volunteered her services for several years to refugees as well as the vulnerable and homeless in the Newbury area to ensure they have access to eye care and spectacles.

Valarie currently serves as a director for the Newbury BID (Business Improvement District) working to improve Newbury for businesses and improve the experience for those who visit our lovely market town.
